Chris is running the London Marathon to raise money for the Cardiac Surgical Fund at Alder Hey Children`s Hospital, in honour of our son Benjamin, who`s life was saved after he had an unexpected Cardiac arrest following his first open Heart surgery when he was just two months old, in December 2013.

Ben has since had two more open Heart surgeries, and has just had a Pulmonary Valve replacement in February 2025! Thankfully the valve could be replaced by feeding a Cardiac Catheter through an artery in his leg, rather than another very invasive heart surgery. This is a testament to the amazing work they do at Alder Hey.

Chris says:

"On the 27th April 2025 I'll be running the 26.2 miles (42.2km) of the London Marathon. I've lucked in and been awarded a ballot place (1 in 16 chance!) - and decided to raise money for the amazing Alder Hey Children's hospital. I have a personal connection with this as they saved the life of Ben Maly - the awesome son of close family friends.

I'm a major running nut, long distance trail runs are my usual bag, but I've ditched the trail shoes & got some smart looking carbon running shoes to see if I can get a sub 4hr Marathon.
