Story

Fundraising for WellChild UK: 2025 Chicago Marathon

Chris & Lottie Run a Marathon (at Very Different Speeds!)

On the 12th October 2025, Chris and Lottie are taking on the Chicago Marathon to raise money for WellChild UK. This will be Chris’s fourth marathon and Lottie’s second, and while we may be running the same race, we won’t exactly be running it together!

We tackled the Berlin Marathon last year, where Lottie finished twice as fast as Chris—so if history repeats itself, she’ll be celebrating at the finish line while he’s still somewhere around mile 13. But no matter the pace, we’re both running for an incredible cause—helping seriously ill children receive the care they need at home.

Why WellChild?

Thousands of children in the UK require specialist care, and WellChild helps ensure they can be at home with their families rather than in hospital. Every donation supports life-changing care and resources for these families.

How You Can Help

We’re aiming to raise £2,000 for WellChild. Whether you donate to celebrate Lottie’s speed, Chris’s endurance, or just to support a fantastic charity, every contribution makes a real difference.

About WellChild UK

WellChild is the national charity for seriously ill children and their families. They provide essential support that allows children with complex health needs to be cared for at home, rather than spending long periods in the hospital. WellChild nurses, caregivers, and volunteers make a world of difference, giving families the chance to thrive together in their own homes. Their work is nothing short of life-changing, and I’m proud to be running to raise funds for them.

Why we’re Running for WellChild

Running marathons has been an incredible journey for Chris he’s completed the London, New York, and Berlin Marathons, Lottie completed Berlin next year and is on a mission to run Chicago in under 3 hours, Chris is happy to finish and now we’re tackling Chicago to continue our mission. While training and racing is a personal challenge, I’m motivated by the opportunity to give back and help families facing immense difficulties.

By supporting WellChild, you’re helping to fund care, equipment, and resources for children with severe health challenges. It’s a cause that truly makes a difference in the lives of these children and their families—and they need our support now more than ever.

My Goal

We’ve set an ambitious goal to raise £4000 for WellChild UK, and need your help to get there! Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly to supporting families in need. Your generosity will help ensure that more children can receive the specialized care they deserve, right in the comfort of their own homes.
