The Team comprises 40 unpaid volunteers, and is on call 24/7, 365 days a year in all weathers. It is funded by donations. There is significant on-going training in advanced first aid, mountain and water rescue. Achieved through the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of their employers.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm competing in the MRT Challenger North, 160 mile non-stop race, from Hawes to Kirk Yetholm, to raise awareness and funds for our new base at Penrith. The MRT race is just for members of Mountain Rescue Teams, and runs concurrently with the public race.

Penrith MRT have outgrown their current base and have already purchased land to construct a purpose-built base. The team has limited funds and relies on donations, not only for new projects like the base, but also for day to day running costs and rescue equipment.

Since I am privileged enough to have secured a place in this, the first ever MRT Challenger North race, I want to fundraise for this essential and worthwhile cause.

Your donations will spur me on, on the long, dark, cold, and often lonely nights on the Pennine Way.
