Story
To mark 30 years of my sister Catherine being osteosarcoma-free, I'm joining her in raising funds for the Bone Cancer Research Trust, to help ensure they can continue their vital research into primary bone cancer and be there to support patients and their families impacted by this disease. I’m taking on something a little more… uphill.
I’m Chris, Catherine’s brother, and later this year I’ll be tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. It’s a 24‑mile route summiting Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, with over 1,500 metres of ascent. The aim is to complete all three peaks within 12 hours — a test of endurance, stubbornness, and most definitely my knees.
I’ve always loved getting outdoors, and hiking has become my way of resetting, pushing myself, and finding a bit of headspace. But this challenge is about more than the miles. It’s about supporting Catherine, celebrating her strength, and helping raise funds for the Bone Cancer Research Trust, whose work makes a real difference to patients and families facing primary bone cancer.
Our challenge:
🚶➡️ I've persuade a handful of friends that 24 miles and three mountains is a fun day out - welcome to Martin, Dan, Kev, David. Such champs!!
🚶➡️Complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks in under 12 hours
🚶➡️ Train through all weathers (because… Yorkshire)
🚶➡️ Keep putting one foot in front of the other, even when the legs start questioning life choices
We'll be taking on the challenge in August 2026, and we’ll share updates as training ramps up and the big day gets closer.
If you’d like to support us— or read more about why this cause matters so much to our family — Catherine’s story is linked above. Every donation, share, or message of encouragement genuinely helps.
Thanks for being part of this.
