🌏 Chris & Ellie’s Great Wall of China Trek for Blythe House 🌏

🧭 The Challenge

In November 2026, we – Chris and Ellie – will be taking on the adventure of a lifetime: trekking the Great Wall of China to raise vital funds for Blythe House.

Over five unforgettable days, we’ll be walking one of the world’s most iconic landmarks — an incredible blend of history, endurance, and breathtaking scenery.

We’ll spend our days trekking a remote section of the Great Wall, from Gubeikou to Jinshanling and Simatai. Not only will we walk on parts of the Wall that have been meticulously built and restored over thousands of years, but we’ll also venture through wild, untamed landscapes with sweeping views of green rolling hills, distant mountain peaks, and one of the great wonders of the world as our constant backdrop.

This will be a physically demanding and mentally challenging journey — with countless steps, steep climbs, and rugged terrain — but every single step will be taken with purpose, knowing we’re helping to support an incredible cause close to our hearts.

💙 Why We’re Supporting Blythe House Hospice💙

Blythe House Hospice provides compassionate, specialist care for people in our community who are affected by life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families and carers.

Their team offers a wide range of services including palliative and end-of-life care, counselling and bereavement support, and community nursing, all free of charge. Their work ensures that people can live with comfort, dignity, and as much independence as possible, surrounded by kindness and care.

We’ve seen firsthand how much of a difference hospice care can make — not only for patients, but also for families going through incredibly difficult times. That’s why we’ve chosen to take on this challenge for Blythe House: to give back, to say thank you, and to help ensure that these vital services remain available to everyone who needs them.

💪 Our Mission

Our goal is to raise £7,980 by mid-August 2026 to fund our participation in the trek and, most importantly, to support the continued work of Blythe House Hospice.

Every penny raised will go towards providing life-changing support for local people and their families.

Here’s what your donation could help fund:

• 💛 £10 – a counselling session for someone coping with loss or grief

• 💙 £25 – a home visit from a hospice nurse, bringing comfort and care

• 💜 £50 – a full day of care for a patient at Blythe House

🌟 The Next 10 Months – Our Fundraising Journey

Over the next 10 months, we’ll be working hard to reach our fundraising target through a series of fun and creative fundraising events and challenges.

We’re planning raffles, bake sales, quiz nights and other activities — all to help us reach our goal while spreading awareness of the incredible work Blythe House does every day.

We’ll be sharing our journey along the way — from our training hikes and fitness milestones to event updates and behind-the-scenes photos of our preparation. We’d love for you to follow along, get involved, and join us at some of our events if you can.

Every event, every ticket sold, and every pound raised will bring us one step closer to standing on the Great Wall of China — and one step closer to helping Blythe House continue its vital work.

✈️ The Trek Ahead

Then, in November 2026, we’ll finally head to China to begin our once-in-a-lifetime adventure. We’ll be trekking along one of the most remarkable structures ever built, with breathtaking landscapes, ancient history, and the challenge of endurance driving us forward each day.

From sunrise over the mountains to sunset across the ancient stones, we’ll carry with us the support and encouragement of everyone who helped us get there — and the knowledge that every step we take is making a difference back home.
