26 miles for better mental health support

The Norfolk Marathon 2024 · 28 April 2024 ·
I’ve been running for a while now over shorter distances, partly to support my own mental health but I wanted to push myself much further this year while also trying to do some good.
Everyone struggles at times but hopefully we’re able to find someone to talk to or find an outlet or coping strategy to help us get through it but not everyone does. Far too many people are being taken from us too soon and I’ve seen many friends affected by this in recent years.
I want to raise awareness of this issue which is so often swept under the carpet and encourage everyone, particularly men, to be more open about how they’re feeling.
Hopefully there is someone you can talk to, which is always the most important first step but for anyone that doesn’t or needs further support there are brilliant organisations out there like Norfolk and Waveney Mind.
There’s more on what they offer below and should you wish to sponsor me together we can help them support even more people.
This is my first ever marathon. The course is on surprisingly hilly (for Norfolk) coast roads and unlike many of the big city races with crowds of people cheering you on, most of the 26 miles will be run alone in the countryside which feels a fitting challenge for the cause.
Thanks for reading.
