Story
Shortly after Sarah’s death I received a number of kind invitations from caring friends and I said “Yes” to all of them.
One of those invitations was to walk the West Highland Way this May – assured that this was the best time to do it, after the ice and before the midges.
We will be walking 10 miles a day for 10 days from Glasgow to Fort William.
Now I can walk 10 miles easily, but I ache a little the morning after. I am wondering whether I will be on my knees by day 6, but we will find out won’t we.
I never had any reason to appreciate the work done by St Michael’s until Sarah was ill, but when you find yourself in that position, as a carer, and realise the general shortcomings in available support and care, you understand just how valuable St Michael’s is.
Our business has become a regular supporter of St Michael’s but I thought my West Highland Way adventure was an opportunity not to be missed to raise a little more for the kind support that they give to so many families in their hour of need.
It doesn’t have to be a lot, but if you can spare a few quid, I will match your donation.
Wish me luck and thank you for reading.
