Story
Thanks for stopping by my JustGiving page — you're already doing more than I did before signing up for a marathon.
When I said I’d run a marathon, I’d only run 5k. Twice. In my entire life. A shining example of what a midlife crisis (and possibly too much time browsing in Decathlon) can lead to.
Running and I have never been friends. In fact, I’m not entirely convinced my legs are on board even now. But BASICS Essex gave me a real reason to drag myself off the sofa and hit the pavement — one reluctant step at a time.
During Covid, we all clapped for the NHS — BASICS take that spirit and do something more tangible. These volunteer doctors provide emergency care at the scene, in critical moments. It’s heroic stuff — which is more than I can say for my post-run hobble.
Any support you can give is massively appreciated — it helps them save lives, and gives me a reason to pretend this was all a great idea.
