We recently and suddenly lost our gorgeous boy, Christian, following a short and aggressive illness. Christian has always been our everything; the most special boy in the world and the centre of our universe.

Christian had special needs including a rare chromosome disorder, IDIC 15, ADHD and hearing impairment. He attended Ruskin Mill College in Gloucestershire, from age eighteen to twenty-four. Ruskin Mill gave Christian a lifeline - over six years, the wonderful staff members worked with Christian to uncover his interests, hobbies, likes and dislikes, and most importantly his confidence. Their patience, kindness and belief in him enabled him to excel in so many ways - Christian found his independence, his love of metal work, his creativity in art-pottery, and a real sense of pride in his accomplishments. His key workers were unfailing supportive and positive, and were instrumental in his development - especially Hannah Orchard and Martha Gaffney, and we will be forever grateful for all they did for him.

Ruskin Mill helped define Christian and shape him into the wonderful, kind, confident, caring, protective, brave, clever boy he was.

We have been asked by many people whether they may send flowers or whether we would like donations to be made. As everybody knows, the SEN sector is hugely underfunded and there are so many families who miss out on the support and kindness that we received from Ruskin Mill and its staff for so many years. We are so appreciative of the care and generosity our friends and family have shown already and ask that if you wish, donations are made to this wonderful charity to help other children and families receive the care that they deserve.
