Story
Grace House is an 11 bedroom residential care home run by the Christian Care Trust, a registered charity in Finchley, North London. Our registered charity number is 12037723. We provide loving Christian care to the elderly and infirm, 24-hours a day, whether for physical reasons or due to dementia or disabilities. We offer permanent residential care or short breaks of respite relief depending on the needs of the resident and their family.
We are held to high standards not just by the Care Quality Commission, but also by the families of our residents, so as to ensure our residents are happy, comfortable and safe. We strive to keep the care we give our residents personable and aim to provide them with a ‘home from home’ experience where possible.
Grace House was founded almost 25 years ago by a local Christian who identified an ongoing need for quality care in the local area for elderly members of her church congregation and after years of fundraising, Grace House opened in the year 2000. Although we are funded primarily through our residents' fees, we continue to rely on donations from supporters. All money we receive is put into the home, with the aim of improving the lives of our residents.
However, we have seen a decline in donations of late and this, combined with the impact of inflation and the cost-of-living crisis, has depleted our reserve funds significantly. In the last 5 years alone, many small, independently run care homes have faced similar and have unfortunately closed down, leaving only homes run by faceless corporations who are more financially driven. We are proud that Grace House continues to offer a more personable level of care despite our changing world and want to ensure that we are here for future resident’s needs.
To continue running, Grace House must meet with all current Health & Safety legislation. Specifically our current focus is to make necessary fire safety improvements and install high spec fire doors. We have completed the first tranche of work but now need to complete the second tranche in order to be fully compliant. We hope to raise £30,000 in order towards this, and are reaching out to our network of supporter churches and volunteers in the hope that together we can find sufficient funds to make this happen.
As a Christian organisation, we always give thanks to God for his generosity and grace, and trusting in his promise of salvation through Jesus Christ. We are incredibly grateful for all contributions to this appeal.
