Christina Brincat is raising money for Royal Free Charity

Team: Dundee Fight Night 26/27: Semester 1

In memory of Joe Attard

Dundee Fight Night · 25 November 2026

Amyloidosis is a rare, often fatal disease, caused by accumulation of protein fibres, amyloid, in the tissues. The Fund provides invaluable support for research and patients in the National Amyloidosis Centre at the Royal Free Hospital.

Story

Over the next 8 weeks, I’ll be training for Dundee Student Fight Night and raising money for Amyloidosis Research, a cause that is incredibly close to my heart.

I lost my Nannu to amyloidosis, and throughout his treatment he would travel from Malta to the National Amyloidosis Centre at the Royal Free Hospital in London. The Amyloidosis Research Fund provides invaluable support to the centre where he received his care, so being able to raise money for them in his memory means so much to me.

There is currently no cure for Amyloidosis, although treatment can help manage some forms of the condition, making continued research and support so important.

Taking on Fight Night is also a huge personal challenge for me. Boxing is completely new to me and I’ve never done anything like this before, so I’ll definitely be pushing myself far outside my comfort zone. Knowing I’m doing it for a cause that means so much to my family makes every bit of the challenge worth it.

After the 8 weeks of training, I’ll be stepping into the ring 🥊 Any donation, big or small, would mean so much to me and my family. ❤️
