The Brittle Bone Society provides support for people affected by the rare, and painful bone condition Osteogenesis Imperfecta. It provides specialist advice, support and equipment to people with the condition, their families and carers, medical and other professionals.

Story

Hi,

My names Amelia but I like to be called AJ for short. I like to be dangerous and energetic, I also like the smell of hospitals.

I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta, known more as Brittle Bones. I have one peg more bendy than the other because of surgeries.

I like the Brittoe Bones Society (BBS) because they helped me meet other people with OI. I have a best friend called Evan, we live far apart but we see each other at event and sometimes in the holidays. We met at an event called OI CAN organised by the BBS. Here we got to do more challenging activities in a safe way. I did abseiling with my daddy but I didn't like it.

The BBS help families as well with buying movement tools. This helps people with OI to go on trips and do things as we get tired more easily and can break our bones more often doing things. Wheelchairs help people that can't walk or that cant walk very far, it means they can still join In with doing things.

I am doing this challenge to fundraise for the BBS so that they can keep helping families. I like cycling because I get stronger from it. When I push down on tbe pedals it helps me push anger out as sometimes having Brittle Bones makes me angry and sad. I will be sore the next day after doing it, but it will be worth it.

Please donate to support my 1st adventure challenge, I feel confident I can do it. I won't give up and I know I can do it. I am cycling from Wadebridge to Padstow on Saturday 24th August 2024 along thr Camel trail with my family. This is about 13 miles which is longer than I have done before. I will do it dressed as my favourite black power ranger. I have BBS goodies and Info to share along the route and SWEETS! I hope to see you and want ti say a big Thank you for reading my page and hearing my story.
