Walking Offa's Dyke in memory of my wonderful Mum & Dad, & celebrating friends

Christine Bailey is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

To walk 180 + miles along Offa's Dyke path, following the border between England and Wales · 5 September 2026

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I'm Christine Bailey and I'm raising money for Alzheimers Society in honour of my wonderful Mum and Dad. My Mum, Connie Harvey, passed away on March 25th 2026, aged 96 years old, having suffered with vascular dementia for over 10 years.

I have been so fortunate to have wonderful parents, both of whom loved to walk and enjoy beautiful countryside. My Dad, Alan Harvey, passed away in March 2025. He and Mum walked Offa's Dyke one holiday but didn't complete the whole trail. So this walk is to honour and celebrate them, as well as to celebrate some great friends who will be joining me along the way. Many thanks to those who are joining me. It will be so much more fun with you all!!

These friends include;

Roger Bailey

Jo Cook

David Shepherd

Sarah Dalton

Jennifer Helmshaw

Caroline Creedy-Smith

Andy Bacon

Jayden Ezennadi

Gill Smith

Jo Dufton, walking in memory of her Mum, Sonia, who also had Alzheimers and died in September 2025.

I plan to complete the whole of the Offa's Dyke trail that follows the English/Welsh border, from north to south, Prestatyn to Sedbury, commencing on September 5th 2026. I will walk 180+ miles, over 16 days, as a token of my love for and thanks to Mum and Dad, who were wonderful parents to my sister and myself. I will get to complete what they didn't, on their behalf!!

I would like to donate as much as possible to Alzheimers Society who give vital support to those who need it, fund ground-breaking research and campaign to make dementia the priority it should be. I would be so grateful for whatever support you could give to help me along every mile of the way for such a great cause! Thank you so much.
