This term, the 1st Shinfield Guides are embracing the spirit of giving with a Reverse Calendar, initiated by a local Girlguiding leader, while we lead up to the festive season. One of our key initiatives is a Sleep Out event in November to raise funds for Launchpad Reading, a charity that supports individuals facing homelessness.

Our goal is to spend the night outdoors to experience the challenges many encounter daily. However, if the weather is unfavorable, we’ll adapt by sleeping in a hall, forgoing heating to simulate the experience of those without stable housing.

Through this initiative, we aim to raise both funds and awareness about homelessness and the resources available for those in need. We invite everyone to support our efforts—whether through donations or spreading the word. Together, we can make a meaningful impact, as we head towards the festive period.
