Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. Your support means the world to me as I embark on a personal journey to walk 50,000 steps for SWAN Autism - Scotland. SWAN is an autistic-led Charity run by and for autistic women. This is incredibly close to my heart, as it advocates for those with autism and their families, ensuring they receive the understanding and support they deserve.
April is Autism Acceptance Month. Every step I take represents not just a physical challenge, but a commitment to raising awareness and funds for this vital charity. With your help, we can make a significant impact in the lives of many who are navigating the complexities of autism, seeking acceptance and a way to find their place in a world that can be very confusing and overwhelming.
I am aiming to raise £500 to contribute towards SWAN initiatives - providing resources and support through courses, training, advocacy and safe spaces to socialise - helping to make sense of their diagnosis and discover their strengths. Your donation will go directly to the charity through JustGiving, making it a simple and secure way to show your support. Together, we can create a brighter future for those trying to unravel who they truly are.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a difference!
Starting very early,
when the weather’s kind,
sneaking out without a fuss,
suspending busy mind
Water, layers and pairs of shoes
Carbs and protein lunch,
change of socks, sunglasses
Lots of snacks to munch
Moderating my expectations and cutting my steps by half - I hadn’t researched how hard 100,000 steps can be (even for super-fit folk) and needed to rein back my enthusiasm slightly. I thought it was simply five times my regular 20,000 steps 🤣 Easy ha - not when you're doing it in one day, it's not!
Apart from squaring up to this challenge, I’ll collect an impressive badge on my FitBit app (sadly, not the Olympian Sandal) but I'll settle for the Cowboy Boot instead.
I'll post my badges as I go along. You'll need to be patient - there'll be rest days but I will get there. Thanks to all who have waded to the bottom of my ramblings - I appreciate you dropping by. Christine : -)
