Team EACH are taking on the Cambridge Half Marathon 2025

Story

I am running the 2025 Cambridge Half Marathon to raise funds for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH).

We rely on EACH to offer our family support and respite and I would like to give something back so they can continue to offer support to those in need.

My daughter, Freya, was diagnosed with a brain tumour when she was just 18 months old. Over the past 6.5 years she has undergone multiple brain surgeries, grueling cancer treatment, and recovery. Shortly into her treatment she was diagnosed with a genetic condition which predisposed her to multiple cancers from childhood. Freya is currently stable on life saving immunotherapy. This summer a new chapter opened when she suffered a sudden brain hemorrhage putting her into a coma and intensive care for 3 days. She remains in recovery from this life changing event and we are indebted to EACH for the support they can offer.

Please help me to reach my £250 target. I am no stranger to running, but since the birth of Freya's little sister in 2023 and Freya's recent stroke, I have not been able to get out much so I feel I am starting out again. Freya has an assistance dog, Rudy, who is taking on much of the training with me! I'll sure miss my four legged supporter on race day!

I'm taking on the challenge of running the Cambridge Half Marathon because I want to help East Anglia's Children's Hospices continue their work supporting families going through the worst situation.

EACH care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions, and our family-centred approach includes specialist nursing care, symptom management nursing, short breaks, well-being activities, therapies, care at end of life, bereavement support, counselling and volunteer services in the home; all meeting the individual needs of the child, young person and whole family.

Only around 15% of their income comes from Government funding and so they rely heavily on fundraising such as this. A donation of £13 could pay one of their amazing Care Assistants for 1 hour, providing essential care to families.
