For 33 years, John Dalzell OBE and his amazing Sit Out team have braved rain, hail, and snow to raise vital funds for Hospice care.

Now, at 83, John is retiring from the Sit Out, and he is placing it in our care along with his other stations managed by his Sit Out team. Most importantly, he is placing it in your hands. Your continued support will ensure that no one in our community faces the end of life alone or without the care and dignity they deserve.

During this time, the Christmas Sit Out has raised an outstanding £2.36 million, ensuring that thousands of local people and their families were able to receive the care and support they needed. This remarkable tradition has been shaped by years of incredible dedication and the fantastic generosity of our community.

Hospice care is about more than medical support. It is about dignity, comfort, love and compassion. At Evora Hospice (formerly Southern Area Hospice), we take great pride in providing exceptional care to people when they need it. As one of our nurses says, “We cannot change the outcome, but we can make every moment as comfortable and meaningful as possible.”

Every year, more and more local people are turning to us for support, and we want to be there for every one of them. However, the reality is that raising the funds we need is becoming much more difficult and without you, we cannot meet the growing demand.
