Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.

Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

Both Linford Grange and The Stratfords residential homes that I work in support people with Dementia and Alzheimer's is one of those types, we want to raise awareness, share some experiences but also show what good support looks like and that it is out there.

To raise/create more awareness around Dementia and the experience of people suffering the condition we will be walking from The Stratfords residential home in Stony Stratford to Linford Grange residential home in Newport Pagnell to raise money for the Alzheimer’s society as part of Dementia awareness week. But we will be doing it experiencing some the issues faced by people with dementia

Accompanied by staff, friends and families of both services will be walking with support experiencing what it could be like to be suffering with dementia.

Each person will have insoles in their shoes that simulate walking for a person with dementia, be wearing goggles that simulate the sight issues, have gloves that simulate the touch issues and be wearing headphones with white noise played through them that simulate hearing issues.

Staff from both services will take it in turns to support Chris and any other participants on their journey to highlight what good support looks like for people experiencing these sensory issues linked to dementia
