Story
“Having seen the challenges faced by veterans who have served our country but now face homelessness, we—Chris and Clare Groves—are taking on the Big Sleep at St Paul’s to raise funds and stand in solidarity with them.”
On 10th October, we—Chris and Clare Groves, Master and Consort of the Worshipful Company of Tin Plate Workers alias Wire Workers—will be giving up the comfort of our beds to spend a night on the cold stone floor outside St Paul’s Cathedral. We’re taking part in Alabaré’s Big Sleep to raise vital funds for people facing homelessness, with a special focus on homeless veterans, a cause particularly close to our hearts.

Homelessness isn’t a distant problem—it’s growing right here in the UK. Over 354,000 people, including more than 160,000 children, are homeless on any given night. Rough sleeping has risen by 20% in the past year alone. Among these are veterans who have served their country but now face the harsh reality of life on the streets. They deserve our support, dignity, and care.
By braving one cold night, we hope to shine a light on their struggles and show that even small acts of solidarity can make a difference. Every donation, no matter the size, helps Alabaré provide safe shelter, warm meals, and life-changing support, particularly for those who once served and now find themselves without a home.
Please consider sponsoring us. Together, we can turn compassion into action and bring hope to those who need it most.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support. 💙
