Story
Thankyou for visiting my JustGiving page, any help you can offer is deeply appreciated by me, my family and the whole team at The Lawrence Centre.
I'm sure some of you are wondering Why?
Why are you cycling the length of the country for fun?
Why The Lawrence Centre?
I've wanted to ride LeJog for ages, I really enjoy cycling and I love a challenge. I used to participate in middle distance Triathlon but after some illness and an operation I've kind of fallen off that wagon. So now seems like the perfect time to try something new.
As to the Lawrence Centre that is also easy to answer but deserves a little more attention.
When one announces they are planning to ride LeJog, without fail the first question in response is
"Who are you raising money for"
I heard about The Lawrence Centre when looking for a local charity to support during my year as Master of my Masonic Lodge. I learned of the incredible work they do, the support they provide and the huge difficulty they face every year to continue doing that.
The Lawrence Centre provides support for, among other things, dementia. My mum suffered from dementia before she passed away and I can say from personal experience it is a very difficult condition for all concerned. I have nothing but the utmost respect for those who provide care for people with this disease.
I then discovered the difficulties faced by The Lawrence Centre in raising enough funding to continue operating. The Lawrence Centre is entirely funded by donations and has to find this funding in an increasingly competitive and challenging environment.
So having chosen the Lawrence Centre before it was natural for me to continue to support them now.
My target reflects the number of miles I will ride, the number of meters or feet climbed (16570/54364) seemed a little optimistic!
I thank you for any help you feel able to give.
