Story
Celebrated every 25 years, 2025 is a Jubilee or Holy Year in the Catholic Church - a time of forgiveness and reconciliation for Catholic communities across the world. The late Pope Francis declared the Jubilee a sacred time of renewal, reflection, and grace, and chose the theme “Pilgrims of Hope”, for the year, inviting all Catholics to embark on a journey of faith and transformation.
To mark the Jubilee and to recognise the 20th anniversary of the association between the Woodhouse Catholic community and the Dominican Friars at Holy Cross Priory in Leicester, the Catholic congregation of ‘St Mary’s in the Elms’ in Woodhouse will shortly be undertaking a pilgrimage of their own. A group will set off after Mass in Woodhouse on Sunday 6 July to walk the 10 miles to the priory in Leicester, completing their journey by passing through the church’s holy door.
The group intends to use this opportunity to support LOROS by seeking sponsorship. LOROS receives only about 20% of its funding from the public purse and needs to raise £9m every year to cover its costs
