Christopher's fundraiser for Brighton YMCA

Christopher Sanders-Browning is raising money for Brighton YMCA

Sponsored solo walk from Southampton to Exeter · 25 September 2026

At YMCA Brighton, we support the local people of Brighton and Hove to belong, contribute and thrive, in a consistent effort to reduce homelessness and increase wellbeing.

Story

I am Christopher Sanders Browning, a Project Worker at William Collier House, one of Brighton’s largest supported housing projects, will undertake a 100-mile (approximately) sponsored walk from Southampton to Exeter, camping in a tent throughout the journey to raise funds for people in supported housing or facing homelessness.

I work daily with residents who have experienced homelessness and complex housing needs at YMCA Brighton. My decision to take on the challenge comes directly from his frontline experience supporting people rebuilding their lives, having previously worked at a homelessness drop-in centre. An experienced long-distance walker I previously completed sponsored walks for his local church in Hove in support of refugees by walking from Brighton to Winchester.

I has autism and ADHD and finds that walking outdoors plays an important role in supporting his wellbeing, helping him stay focused and connected to nature.

By camping outside while completing the walk, I hope to raise both awareness and vital funds for YMCA Brighton’s work supporting people through safe accommodation, wellbeing services, and coaching.
