SolarAid’s vision is of a world where everyone has access to clean, renewable, energy.

590 million people across sub-Saharan Africa live without electricity. When the sun goes down the working day ends for millions of people. For millions of others the only option is to ignite kerosene lamps and paraffin candles, which emit toxic fumes into the earth’s atmosphere. But with the flick of a switch, we can change that story.

Every solar light in someone’s hand is an instant win for people and the planet.

The Challenge

Hence, I pledge to lose weight and get down to 80kg by the 18th December 2023. I have tried to lose weight before but failed as everyone who has tried to do this will know, it isn't that easy!

When I get down to:

100 kg - I will donate some more money to SolarAid

90 kg - I will go to church for a sermon (I used to be a scientist)

80 kg - I won't talk for a day
