Non-Uniform Day · 9 February 2024

The Equality Trust wants a fairer and more equal society in the UK, based on a sustainable economy able to deliver a better quality of life for all. We support diverse grassroots inequality activists as well as publishing research on changes to policy and practice to reduce inequality.

Story

The Citizenship Group of Christ's School has been researching the following areas:

- public opinions and interactions with celebrities;

- prejudice in the media;

- online political influence;

- gender roles in the entertainment industry;

- idolisation and cancel culture.

We aim to spread information about the damaging effects the entertainment industry has on both the people in the industry and the public. These issues have a greater passive effect than people seem to think, especially on a generation who have so much access to Social media. We aim to educate and bring light to this issue so that students can be more aware of the toxic nature of the industry. It will help them to avoid unfavourable situations and identify them before they can be roped in.

Another reason why we chose this charity is because it aligns with one of the core values of our school, Justice. We believe that this core value should be preached in all parts of life, including the media we consume on a day-to-day basis.
