Story
This June, we're taking on a challenge to raise funds for Marie Curie in honour of our Da!
Da spent his final days in a Marie Curie hospice. As difficult as that time was, the whole team made us feel welcomed and supported from the moment we arrived.
We were in awe of every member of staff, and truly amazed by the care and effort they gave to Da. He had a way of making everyone laugh, and we got the sense the staff genuinely looked forward to spending time with him!
They ensured he had a relaxing and peaceful environment, while also taking us through what to expect. This guidance really helped prepare us for what was to come. Their support continues for our family to this day.
As for the challenge itself - we're taking on a short 18 mile hike through the Mournes, starting and finishing in Kilbroney Park. We'll be taking in plenty of sights along the way. We've decided to throw in a wee Belfast marathon in the May as well - you know, just for a bit of training!
Out of admiration for everything Marie Curie do, a hike through the Mournes and a marathon round Belfast feels like the least we can do. We hope it helps ensure they're there for other families when they need it most.
Any donation, big or small, will be greatly appreciated. It'll help Marie Curie be there for other families when they need it most.
Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone. And we push for a better end of life for all by campaigning and sharing research to change the system.
Marie Curie is a charity working across the UK and we need your support to do our vital work.
