Story

Welcome to our JustGiving page!
We are the CHS Oldboys cricket team, and we are organizing a charity cricket tournament in memory of our friend and all round legend Ian Heal (also know as Skip, The Skipper and Skippy), who sadly passed away last year due to cancer.
Ian was not only a close personal friend to many of us for the last 40 years, he was also the heart and soul of the team he created for 32 years. A team that started with just a single game against our old teachers and grew into a thriving social team playing 30 to 40 games a season, including tours some unforgettable tours to Torquay and excellent Cup wins.
In honour of Ian's passion for cricket and his dedication to his family, friends, our team and life in general, we are hosting a testimonial tournament with three other teams on 25th May at Porchfield Cricket Club. The other teams will be made up of cricketing friends, former colleagues and friends from university, coming together to celebrate Ian's life, his love for cricket and to raise some cash for a very worthy cause.
So alongside celebrating all things Ian (Skip) our goal is to raise funds for the Mountbatten Hospice, who provided exceptional care for Ian, his family and friends during his final days.
In addition to the cricket tournament, some of us are also participating in Walk the Wight on 11th May 2025. Walk the Wight is an iconic Isle of Wight event which is itself celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.
We will be walking the 26.5-mile main walk from Bembridge to Alum Bay. This event is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Isle of Wight while raising vital funds for Mountbatten Hospice in Ian's memory/
Please consider donating to our cause. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference. Thank you for your support and for helping us honour Ian's memory in such a meaningful way.
Warm regards,
CHS Old Boys Cricket Team
