Prague Marathon 2024 · 5 May 2024
This May, myself and seven friends are teaming up and taking on the Prague Marathon, fundraising in aid of the NSPCC.
"Every child is unique, and every child's situation in life is unique too. Having spent the past few years working with primary school aged children daily, I have seen this first hand. The good, the bad and everything in-between. I felt fundraising for this charity is fitting as just like I endeavour to fulfill in my work, the NSPCC are also ensuring children remain safe, happy and healthy."
So why support our 26.2 miles around Prague?
The NSPCC is the leading children's charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. They help children who have been abused rebuild their lives, protect those at risk, and find the best ways of preventing abuse from ever happening.
The NSPCC fights for every childhood.
It's not only abuse. On average a child contacts Childline every 45 seconds. With mental, and emotional health and wellbeing being a top concern for children and young people contacting.
Where will your money go?
£4 pays for a trained volunteer counsellors to answer a child’s call for help to Childline.
In 2022/23, we delivered almost 200,000 Childline counselling sessions through our service for children and young people.
£3 pays for the 'speak out Stay safe' programme to reach 1 primary school child, empowering them to speak out if they're worried about anything.
In 2022/23 the NSPCC reached over 1.2 million children in over 5,300 schools through this programme.
£5 covers the cost of answering 1 call to the NSPCC Helpline.
In 2022/23 this Helpline responded to over 59,000 contacts from people with concerns about a child's welfare.
Thank you very much.
See you in 26.2 miles...
