🏃‍♂️ Belfast City Marathon 🏃

My friend Michael and I are taking part in this year's Belfast Marathon on 5th May. We will be running to raise funds for The Children's Cancer Unit Charity, Belfast (Registered Charity Number: NIC104794).

This is an amazing charity that supports the work of the Children's Cancer and Haematology unit at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children. It helps to raise funds for much needed clinical trials, essential equipment, and provides support for children and their families throughout their cancer journey.

My/our inspiration to take on the marathon is my little cousin, Ollie. Ollie was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition a little over a year ago. Since then, he and his family, have been supported unwaveringly by the staff of the Children's Cancer and Haematology unit. And now, as he continues recovery following his bone marrow transplant, the Unit are still there, guiding Ollie and his family through this gruelling process.

The Children's Cancer Unit Charity has helped to ensure that services and support have been available for my cousin and his family. This has inspired Michael and I to train hard, putting in the time and miles in preparation for the marathon.

We are setting up a Just Giving page in recognition of the work of the Children's Cancer Unit Charity. This is our way of saying “Thanks” and helping to ensure that the services of the Unit continue to be available for families in future.
