Story
We (Ciara, David and Becky) are taking part in the Medic to Medic Half Marathon in Thyolo, Malawi, to raise funds for Friends of Sick Children in Malawi (FOSCiM). We are all doctors who have worked in the Paediatric Department in Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, Blantyre, Malawi and so this is a cause that is very close to our hearts. We have seen firsthand the incredible work that FOSCiM does and the powerful impact their work has had on the health of children attending our hospital.
Malawi is one of the poorest nations of the world and half the population are under 18 years old. Progress has been made in the last 20 years but there is more still to do.
Donations are needed for:
* Course fees to train Malawians in child healthcare
* Investing in facilities and equipment
* Making aids such as wheelchairs for children with severe mobility and quality of life issues
Quite simply, your support will save the lives of Malawian babies and children by helping us provide healthcare workers and facilities for sick children.
