My Story
Last year, breast cancer became part of my own story.
I found my breast cancer through checking myself, and that is something I will never stop talking about. It was a simple monthly check that made me notice something wasn't right and ultimately led to my diagnosis and treatment.
So during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I want to do something positive with my experience.
Together with Niamh, I'm holding a special fundraising evening at Willowtree Retreats with yoga, a sound bath, sauna, cold plunge and Jacuzzi, followed by tea, cake and time together.
I've chosen to raise money for Pretty ’n Pink because they are dedicated specifically to supporting people affected by breast cancer here in Northern Ireland. I want the money we raise to help other women and families going through something I now understand only too well.
But this fundraiser is also about awareness.
Please check your breasts regularly. Get to know what is normal for your body and, if something doesn't feel right, have it checked. And remind your mums, daughters, sisters, friends and partners to do the same.
Treatment may finish, but the impact of a cancer diagnosis doesn't simply disappear. The worry, follow-up appointments and changes to everyday life can continue long afterwards, which is why organisations supporting people through and beyond breast cancer are so important.
If you'd like to join our fundraising evening, our suggested donation is £35, but every donation, large or small, is genuinely appreciated.
If you can't attend, you can still donate or share this page. And most importantly, please take a few minutes this month to check yourself.
Thank you so much for supporting me, Pretty ’n Pink and everyone whose life has been touched by breast cancer.
Ciara x
