Story
Spending one night without a roof over our heads can’t truly reflect the reality of homelessness.
The experiences of those we support are deeply complex and unique to each individual. But the Sleepout gives us a moment to reflect—to consider, even briefly, the challenges faced by people sleeping rough.
Care-experienced young people are more vulnerable to homelessness because they often have to manage adult responsibilities earlier than their peers, with less family support, fewer financial resources, and greater emotional and practical challenges.
Around 1,000 young people leave local authority care each year in Greater Manchester. The North West has one of the highest rates of care leaver homelessness in England.
On Saturday 10th I will be joining “The Wellspring Sleepout” in Stockport town centre for the night.
If anyone can spare a few pounds, I and the users of The Wellspring would be so grateful!
Thank you!!
