Story
Some of you may be aware that during the summer holidays of 2025, Finlay was diagnosed with a brain tumour — a sentence no parent is ever prepared to hear. What followed was emergency surgery on his 14th birthday, and without doubt the scariest time of my life.
Since then, our lives have been filled with hospital appointments and uncertainty — but also incredible strength, resilience, and bravery from Finlay, which continues to inspire us every single day.
The Brain Tumour Charity were there from the moment we set foot in Edinburgh’s Children’s Hospital and continue to be an invaluable source of support for our whole family while we come to terms with this life changing diagnosis. To give something back and to raise awareness, I’ll be taking on my very own Twilight Walk from Dundee to Arbroath on 28th March.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, sharing, and supporting us in any way you can. Every Own Walk is a one-of-a-kind event. For some, it’s about bringing together as many people as possible to celebrate Brain Tumour Awareness Month and look to the future. For others, it’s about gathering close loved ones to walk and remember somebody special.
What every Own Walk has in common is that every step taken and every pound raised helps move us further, faster in tackling brain tumours on three vital fronts — funding pioneering research, providing life-changing support, and campaigning for urgently needed change.
