Story

Last May I walked 200 miles for Prostate Cancer as dad had been diagnosed with it. [he is now clear of that].

Unfortunately dad has now been diagnosed in January 2025 with Dementia / Alzheimer’s … Unfortunately once you have it you can’t get rid of it but you can try and slow it down.

One minute dad can be perfect the next he goes in to a dreamland and see’s things that aren’t there .. it’s so hard and very sad, especially for what my mum is having to deal with daily 😞

I’m supporting them as best we can and hopefully through raising funds, the clever scientists we have can someday find a cure for this terrible condition.

I'm taking part in the Walk 31 Miles in May challenge to support families facing dementia. [I am hoping to do 200 miles in May and raise mega awareness]... so many of my friends parents and husbands or wife's have it, everyone is struggling, we need to dig deep to try and STOP this!!

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference.

Just £8 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. [Which I am going to be needing very soon]

£33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s behaviour.

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.

Thank you!
