Thousands of people take part in Ride+Stride every year to raise funds to support their local churches and county historic churches trusts. In our area we raised over £35,000 in 2025, for individual churches and for our grants programme. You can take part in this fun event where participants seek sponsorship to visit our churches by walking, cycling, on horse back, on public transport or by car. Most of our Ride+Stride supporters join in with others from their church but, if you simply would like to help save historic churches and support the Trust, you can sign up on your own!

PCC Cirencester with Watermoor and St Lawrence (Registered Charity Number 1135068) is fundraising for this year’s Ride & Stride to support the Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust and the fabric of our churches. Participants exploring churches on a bike ride include our Vicar, Revd Canon Graham Morris; John Lawrence, PCC member and verger; and Mark Dennis, PCC member and secretary. Others are welcome. We would be very grateful for your support. Our parish consists of the Parish Church of St John Baptist, Holy Trinity Church, Watermoor, and St Lawrence Church, Chesterton

St John Baptist is amongst one of the largest parish churches in England and has been a place of Christian worship for over a thousand years. The church is renowned for its perpendicular porch, fan vaults and merchants’ tombs.

Holy Trinity Church, Watermoor was designed and built by Sir Gilbert Scott in from 1847-52. He carried out further work in 1878 when he enlarged the windows and, in 1881, a stone reredos was made to his design.

St Lawrence Church is the newest of the three churches in the parish, built in the 1950s. As a dual-purpose building, it is often used just as a hall, but weekly Sunday services take place as well.
