Story
City Church Dundee are passionate about supporting local communities to improve their physical, mental and spiritual needs. We are based in "the Friary" which is needing some serious improvements for members and the wider community. We already have various support groups that meet in the Friary on a daily basis. These include a community cafe that sees locals come in for lunch and to receive support and information to help improve their lives. The cafe also runs a food larder where people can come in to fill a bag with any needed supplies.
We currently have various groups such as an Addiction Recovery Project, Slimming World, Narcotics Anonymous, War-gamers and Young Police Cadets that use the facilities during the course of the week.
The current round of improvements - a project in excess of £500,000 - includes installing new toilets, a training kitchen, solar panels, new heating and substantial fire safety upgrades to make the Friary much more usable as a centre that serves our whole community and is fully accessible. Our target of £2,000 for this event is just part of the greater effort!
