The City of Oxford Choir is a chamber choir of keen singers from all walks of life in and around Oxford. Originally formed in 1977 to host a visiting choir from Leiden in the Netherlands, one of Oxford’s twin cities, the choir has gone from strength to strength and is widely regarded as one of the premier choirs in Oxford. Duncan Aspden has been Musical Director of the choir since 2005, and we are also lucky to regularly welcome to rehearsals vocal coach and professional countertenor William Purefoy.

Story

Our choir members have many talents and are teaming up to raise money for two exciting concerts this year! Please sponsor us to: learn a new musical instrument to grade 1 standard OR run 10K at the Town & Gown OR cycle up to 78 miles at Bike Oxford 2025. Some members might even do all three!

The funds we raise will enable us to undertake two ambitious programmes:

Breaking Ground Friday 28 March 2025

Oxford University Museum of Natural History

An exciting collaboration with the museum exploring themes from their current exhibition "Breaking Ground" and featuring a world premiere commissioned for this event.

Haydn's Nelson Mass Saturday 28 June 2025

SJE Arts, Oxford

A performance of Haydn's most celebrated and dramatic choral work, in collaboration with the Instruments of Time and Truth.

Your sponsorship is most appreciated! Please also consider buying concert tickets: see oxfordchoir.org for details
