Story
As part of the re-foresting of northern England, Manchester City of Trees aim to plant 3 million trees, one for every person across Greater Manchester, within 5 years. They also aim to restore greenspaces and woodlands for the benefit of both communities and wildlife and inspire a passion for trees and woods.
"Greening" cities is one of the most important visions for our collective future. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, provide a cooling effect to mitigate against heat in cities, and help address the ecological crisis by providing shelter and food for animals.
Greener space has also been proven to boost the mental and physical health of human beings.
The North of England has much lower woodland coverage than the UK average, at only 7.6%. This is not healthy. The creation of a Northern Forest will be one of the best things that has happened in the north for decades, that's why I want to help support Manchester's part in that effort.
I will be reading 100 books in under a year, starting from 1st December 2022. I am asking for people to encourage me along by sponsoring me (money goes direct to City of Trees) or else recommending good books!
