Story
Come celebrate the Mexican tradition of Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with the CJS National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) in the lobby of Pulitzer Hall from October 31st to November 1st.
CJS NAHJ will be constructing an "ofrenda" to honor the Latin American journalists who have died in the region since 2022. In Mexico, families celebrate the memory of their people with ornate ofrendas that display photos, candles, and other items to represent the lives lost.
In addition to the display, NAHJ will be selling apple cider, sweets, and pastries to raise funds for the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ). According to CPJ, Mexico is the second most dangerous place for journalists to work. Since 2022, fourteen journalists and media workers have died in Mexico. As a school community, we wish to remember and raise awareness about journalists around the world who have lost their lives in pursuit of the truth
