Story
We are hosting an Addison's Afternoon Tea at Southend Community Hall, South Uist on Saturday 31st May from 2pm to 4pm. We have a bouncy castle to keep the children entertained. We also have a raffle planned with fantastic prizes to be drawn on the day. Please come along to help our cause.
Sophie (9) was diagnosed with Addison's Disease in October 2024. She became critically unwell whilst on holiday in Paris. Thankfully whilst there she got her diagnosis and began treatment. The photo above is of Sophie 1 month before diagnosis and then 4 months after. ADSHG have been invaluable to us since her diagnosis and we are trying to give a little back for them to continue their hard work.
I am proud to be hosting an Addison's Afternoon Tea to raise awareness and funds for the Addison's Disease Self-Help Group (ADSHG).
The ADSHG charity supports everyone affected by Addison's and adrenal insufficiency. Addison’s is a rare endocrine condition where the adrenal glands do not produce enough steroid hormones and can be life-threatening. It affects approximately 1 in 10,000 people and is roughly 300 times rarer than diabetes.
Every donation will go directly towards the Addison’s Disease Self-Help Group’s mission of supporting the Addison's and adrenal insufficiency community and their healthcare providers as well as supporting vital research. Together, we can make a real difference.
Every penny raised helps us support people affected by Addison's disease and adrenal insufficiency.
