Story
I’m going silent for Sue Lambert Trust. This February, during Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week (5-11 February) I will challenge myself to stay silent for 24 hours and use this time to meditate and pray for peace, safety and healing for all.
Sue Lambert Trust is a Norfolk charity that supports more than 250 people every week who have been sexually abused or who have experienced sexual violence, and want to access specialist, professional counselling, and therapeutic support which are delivered for free.
My 24 hour silence will take place on 8th February 2024 starting at 8am.
I’m staying silent to show my support for survivors of abuse, many people suffer in silence for years or decades before speaking up about what happened to them, and getting the support they deserve and need to heal.
Sue Lambert Trust has been such a huge part of my healing journey and helping me find my voice. By staying silent I will be able to empathise deeply with those who may still be suffering or finding the strength to speak out. I will also be remembering and reflecting on what it was like for me when I was struggling alone with my story stuck inside.
I am deeply grateful for the services that Sue Lambert Trust provides for survivors of abuse and want to see them be able to continue to support others along their healing journeys and give something back in return for all the help and support they have given me.
I have pledged to raise a minimum of £50 which supports the cost of one counselling session. I would love any help that you are able to offer towards supporting this important work.
Please help me to raise this donation as well as awareness of the issues of sexual abuse and sexual violence. If you, or anyone you know are in need of support, I encourage you to reach out to Sue Lambert Trust or similar support services.
Let's put an end to suffering in silence and move towards healing together through support and awareness.
