Story
Hi 👋🏼
My name is Claire, and I’m running the Antrim Coast Half Marathon on August 24th in support of a cause very close to our hearts — Friends of Parkview, a small but vital charity supporting Parkview School in Lisburn.
This year marks the 10th birthday of Friends of Parkview (on August 26th!), and what better way to celebrate than by giving back to the school that has given so much to so many families — including ours.
My nephew George, now 13, has been part of the Parkview family since he was just 3 years old. George is a bright, loving, and determined young man. He uses a wheelchair and is non-verbal, but he communicates with his world in his own incredible ways. Parkview has supported his journey every step of the way, helping him grow and thrive in an environment that truly understands and celebrates each child’s unique needs.
Friends of Parkview is a registered charity run by volunteers — mostly parents and staff — who work tirelessly to raise funds for the extras that make such a huge difference. These include:
Specialist equipment and communication tools
Sensory spaces and accessible playgrounds
Enrichment activities like music therapy, outings, and adapted sports
Support for families and carers
These are things that aren’t provided by the education authority, but they are essential to the children’s daily lives and learning experiences.
By supporting this fundraiser, you’re helping to ensure that Parkview continues to be a place where every child, like George, can access the very best in care, education, and opportunity.
Please consider donating whatever you can — and if you’re not able to give, sharing this page would mean the world to us.
Thank you so much for your support 💙
