As you might already know, I am scared of heights. I try to avoid them.

More than once, I've walked down flights of stairs past 5 year olds queuing for a waterslide because I just couldn't do it (the 5 year olds were very nice about it!).

And yet, last month I found myself volunteering to do an abseil from the top of the flipping Trafford Centre!

Peer pressure played a large part (!), but so did the great cause that is Forever Manchester (details below), and it would be marvellous if you'd sponsor me and, more importantly, support their fantastic work.

In fact, at any given time there are an unbelievable 20,000 local grassroots projects of varying sizes and interests taking place. These activities are the lifeblood of our neighbourhoods, they are happening right now on our doorsteps and they are being run by people who give up their precious time to make our communities happier and safer places to be.
