Katherine and Claire is raising money for Dame Agnes Weston's Royal Charity for the Naval Service

Story

Three Military Wives, and James! One Big Desert, and a Lot of Sand in All the Wrong Places…

Hello. As you all know, I love to walk and I love a challenge so myself and my friends Sabrina and Claire who are also military wives are taking this on (this one was actually all Claire’s idea) Three mothers. And, for reasons we're still not entirely sure of, three women about to trek across the actual Sahara Desert. Since we committed to the cause our friend James has also decided to join us. So now we are a 4

Why? Well, partly because we’ve lost our minds. But mainly because Aggie Weston’s hasn’t lost theirs. We want to support the life-changing work they do.

Aggie Weston’s is the quiet hero behind many Royal Navy and Royal Marines families. When you’re living miles from home, dealing with deployments, parenting solo, or just trying to hold it all together, Aggies is there. They offer a listening ear, a place to breathe, and someone who genuinely gets it.

They don’t shout about it. They’re not flashy. They just show up with kindness and compassion.

So while one of us still navigates military life and the other two have the benefit of hindsight, we thought we’d one-up the blokes by braving the heat, the blisters, and the very real risk of camel-based humiliation. All to raise money for a charity that has walked beside military families for years. Just with fewer blisters and better footwear. At this point i should also tell about James who is a chef at a military naval base and fully understands about the work and dedication required from all those who serve.

If you’ve ever:

- Juggled solo parenting

- Searched for your sanity between toddler tantrums and time-zones

- Or just needed someone to say, “You’re not going mad. This *is* hard"

Then you’ll know why Aggie Weston’s matters.

Please support us (and them) as we sweat, swear and stumble across the Sahara.

Every donation keeps this amazing charity going so they can keep walking alongside others, long after we’ve made it back to the hotel to a nice cold drink. A portion of the funds raised will go toward the cost of our participation in the challenge.

Thank you so much 🤍
