Alzheimer Scotland is the leading, national dementia charity in Scotland. Our mission is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide advice, information and support and we are here for people living with dementia, their families and carers across Scotland.

Story

Looking for your support. We have decided to combine our love for the great outdoors along with raising money for a charity close to our hearts, Alzheimer Scotland. We will be taking on the West Highland Way and hiking 96 miles over a 7 day period from 26th April - 2nd May 2025. Day 1 starting at Milngavie and ending on day 7 when we arrive at Fort William. We are just four friends, consisting of two husband and wife duos, with a love for the great outdoors. All of us in our group are currently experiencing what it is like to have a parent living with dementia. We are seeing first hand how heart breaking and cruel it is for the person and their families living with this illness also known as “the long goodbye”. Hiking the West Highland Way is something we have discussed doing for some time now so we thought, why don’t we make it worth while and raise funds while raising awareness along the way for people experiencing life with dementia. We would really love if you could support us to support Alzheimer Scotland by donating to this amazing charity. We appreciate that with today’s financial climate not everyone may be in a position to donate, even just a like or share to help us raise awareness would be much appreciated. Much love and appreciation to you all. Liz & Raymond Henderson, Claire & Jamie Nisbet. X💪🏻🥾⛰️🏕️🌲🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️
