Our Mighty Stride for Accord Hospice – In Loving Memory of Mary
On Sunday 26th April 2026, we’ll be walking 23 miles in the Glasgow Kiltwalk, taking on the Mighty Stride in memory of our beloved wife, mum, and nanny, Mary, who we lost to cancer in December 2023.
This is a deeply personal challenge for us. Jim has done the Kiltwalk once before and knows how tough it is – every mile tests you physically and emotionally. This year, it’s even more special because Claire and Chris are joining for the first time, walking alongside their dad to honour the incredible woman who was not only a loving wife, but an amazing mum and a wonderful nanny to her grandchildren.
Mary was the heart of our family – kind, courageous, and full of love. In her final days, thanks to the extraordinary care and compassion of Accord Hospice in Paisley, she was able to remain at home, surrounded by those who loved her most. Their support gave us precious time together, filled with dignity, peace, and love.
We’re walking to say thank you – and to ensure that other families can receive the same incredible care when they need it most.
Hospices like Accord rely heavily on donations. Government funding simply doesn’t stretch far enough to meet the growing need. Every pound raised helps provide vital services: pain management, emotional support, home visits, and end-of-life care that honours the person and supports the family.
💙 Please support us if you can.
Whether it’s £5 or £50, your donation will make a real difference. Together, we can help Accord Hospice continue their life-changing work and honour Mary’s memory in the most meaningful way.
Thank you for reading, thank you for caring, and thank you for walking this journey with us.
Jim, Claire & Chris
