Mia’s Catbells trek fundraiser for Motor Neurone Disease Association

Claire Cuthbertson is raising money for Motor Neurone Disease Association
In memory of Alan Carter

Mia’s Catbells Trek · 8 April 2026

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Mia is six years old and is fundraising for Motor Neurone Disease in loving memory of her uncle, Alan Carter. Alan was diagnosed with MND in 2017 and sadly passed away just weeks before Mia was born in 2019. In his honour, Mia was given the middle name Alana.

We have shared stories about Alan with Mia and helped her understand how MND affected him. Inspired by this, Mia has taken it upon herself to raise money for what she calls “important medicine,” hoping to help others living with this cruel disease.

To support her fundraising, Mia has decided to hike Catbells in the Lake District alongside her Mum, Dad, Grandma, Pops, Uncle Tom, and her dog, Winnie.
