Story
In 2027, I’ll be taking on my first London Marathon. There will be sore legs, early mornings, plenty of self-doubt… and probably a few moments where I question why I ever signed up! But every mile will be worth it because I’ll be running for a cause that means a lot to me: St John Ambulance.
St John Ambulance exists to make sure that everyone has the skills and confidence to step forward in an emergency. Because when someone’s life is on the line, those first few minutes can make all the difference.
This isn’t just another charity to me.
I’ve seen first-hand how powerful first aid and CPR can be. I’ve witnessed the difference that immediate action can make, and I know that the confidence to help isn’t something we’re born with—it’s something we’re taught. That’s why I’m so passionate about ensuring more people have those life-saving skills.
St John Ambulance also holds a very special place in my heart for another reason. It’s where I met my husband. What started as volunteering to help others ended up changing my own life forever.
So this marathon is about much more than crossing a finish line. It’s about giving something back to an organisation that has shaped my life and continues to make an incredible difference to so many others every single day.
To make things even more interesting (or slightly crazy!), I’ll be fitting marathon training around studying for my MA. There will undoubtedly be days when motivation is hard to find, but knowing I’m supported by family, friends and generous donors will keep me putting one foot in front of the other.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how much, you’ll be helping St John Ambulance continue to train people in life-saving first aid, support communities, and be there when people need them most. Every pound helps create more people with the confidence to step forward.
Thank you for believing in me and, more importantly, for believing in the incredible work of St John Ambulance. Your support will help carry me through 26.2 miles—and help ensure that when someone’s worst day happens, there are more people ready to save a life.
Every donation, no matter the size, really does make a difference. Thank you so much.
