Story
To help St Nicholas Hospice celebrate 40 years of caring, the Curly Girls are taking part in ‘St Nic’s 40 @ 40 Skydive Day’ on Sunday 4th August 2024.
We will be part of a group of 40 individuals to take the leap of a lifetime and raise vital funds to support St Nicholas Hospice Care. The tandem jump will be from 13,000 feet (approximately two miles high!) where we will fall at about 120mph, descending to 5,000 feet in around 40 seconds. Fingers crossed at this point the parachute will open and we will all fly safely back to earth.
Sue - After losing one of my best friends last year, it made me think about how life can be short and unpredictable. I had a little word with myself to stop putting off doing things, especially those items on my ‘bucket list’. So why not start big and jump out of a plane strapped to a stranger I thought! 😊
The hospice does so much for so many people. They have provided this service without charge for the past 40 years, helping countless individuals and their family and friends. It costs around £22,000 per day to run SNH, and this is my chance to make a small contribution to the fantastic work of the hospice.
Emma - Doing a skydive has always been on my bucket list but something I never thought I'd achieve. I've lost too many family members and friends to cancer and feel lucky to not only fulfil a dream with Sue and Claire but also to raise money for such a worthy cause.
Claire - You might ask why I want to do this and to be honest it’s something I’ve always thought about doing but never quite had the courage to sign up, so here I am at 53 years old, giving it a go! (Thank you Sue Worsfold 😂).
If you can spare any money to sponsor us and help support the amazing work St Nic's carries out every day, we would be extremely grateful, whatever the amount big or small.
Thank you very much Sue, Emma & Claire
