About 4 months ago, in the approach to my 40th birthday, I decided I needed to improve my health & fitness. I enjoy being outdoors so decided I would try running and downloaded the couch to 5k app. It felt a real struggle at first and I found it hard to jog for more than a couple of minutes at a time. But I carried on and completed the app and ran 5k just before Christmas.

Surprisingly to me, I also actually enjoyed it! So I decided to challenge myself further and have signed up to run 10K in the Exeter Great West Run 2025.

I have worked for DPT for the past 3 years and thought what a great opportunity to not only challenge myself but to also raise some money for a fantastic charity supporting mental health in Devon.

Open Up is a Devon-based charity dedicated to improving the lives of individuals broadly receiving care from Devon Partnership NHS Trust. We focus on mental health, learning disabilities and neurodiversity through innovative therapies, essential equipment and community partnerships.
