Story

In loving memory of a wonderful Dad, Grandad, Husband, Brother, Uncle - Robert John O’Sullivan.

We have set up this page to continue raising funds for CJD Support Network for our dad, who sadly passed away from this cruel disease. CJD is an incredibly rare neurological degenerative disorder affecting one in one million people. It is so unheard of that the diagnosis process can take so long, usually a couple of days before someone passes away from it, which happened to dad. It was a very frustrating and heartbreaking time witnessing the rapid progression of this disease and not having a diagnosis. In most cases, there is no known cause which makes the pain of losing him even harder.

CJD Support Network is an amazing charity set up to provide support for families like ours who have been affected by this cruel disease. It has also made us feel less lonely when we have had opportunities to reach out to other families across the UK who have also sadly lost a loved one to CJD. The charity rely on funds given by donation - this can contribute to support, accessible information, annual events and counselling as well as up to date information about the latest news and findings of CJD from the CJD Research Centre in Edinburgh.

We will be raising funds by taking part in events…. Half marathons, marathons, tough mudders etc over time, making dad proud and turning our pain into purpose! We would really appreciate any donation, small or big, towards this wonderful charity so continuous support can be provided for families. Thank you.
